In the previous two grade levels of this curriculum, a combination of experiential learning and critical thinking was used as the foundations for creating the sequence of activities and the lessons within each activity.  These two types of learning were often separated depending on the activities.  In second grade, students begin to combine both learning processes in order to gain a better understanding of each concept.
