Drive in the City  = S describe/learn about different voices used in the music classroom, use different voices during activity to depict driving a car (not waking the baby (whisper), yelling at other cars (shouting), talking to a passenger (speaking), beeping the horn (singing)

 

Assessments

1.  Can students list the different voices used in the music classroom?

2.  Can students identify the different voices used in the music classroom?

3.  Can students correctly demonstrate the use and sound of each of these voices?

 

If I Ask You to Sing = S describe/learn about different voices used in the music classroom, T has four different cards displaying the four types with pictures and words (whisper, sing, shout, speak), T sings song and S answer based on which voice T adds into song lyrics

 

Assessments

1.  Can students list the different voices used in the music classroom?

2.  Can students identify the different voices and words to represent the different voices used in the music classroom?

3.  Can students respond in the song using the proper voice when prompted?

 

Vocal Warmups = T draws with finger the “shape” of the sounds their voice makes depending on if it goes up or down, S echo with the same; T sings sol/mi/do patterns on syllable “doo”, S echo with the same

 

Assessments

1.   Are students able to correctly echo the teacher’s vocal patterns?

2.  Can students match the timbre and pitch of the call pattern?

 

You Must Pay the Rent = S explore different high/low voices based on the character that they portray (damsel in distress = high, villain = low, hero = middle) 

 

Assessments

1.  Are students able to recognize that each character’s voice has a different pitch level?

2.  Can students portray each character’s vocal quality?
